For the first year of NRMA’s sponsorship of the 2022-2023 Test Cricket series, we created a campaign that laddered up to their brand platform ‘Help is who we are’. And focused on the ways that NRMA supported local cricket clubs and players.
We created a virtual cricket expert, Flippa, to support their Cricket League sponsorship through Business Messaging. Flippa is an animated old cricket ball with a friendly, charismatic, authentically ‘Australian’ tone of voice.
People could enter the chat bot from feed or stories ads, as well as via QR codes found on owned channels, OHH screens, and digital outdoor screens throughout the various stadiums during live games.
Building connection between the stadium and at home experiences
We can’t all be at the stadium to watch the game. So, we recreated the ‘Keepy Uppy’ game that was physically at the stadium into an AR experience on Facebook and Instagram for users at home.
The ‘Keepy Uppy’ activation was created to earn money to support local cricket clubs across Australia.
The AR version was promoted on the large digital panels within each stadium, as well as QR codes. Users on Instagram and Facebook were served feed, stories and reels ads, as well as Branded Content with the cricketers playing the game.
The AR filter provided additional entertainment in the down-time of tea breaks during the day.
